The Crystal Coast
There’s plenty to fascinate, educate, and delight nearby. Untouched nature and a rich backlog of history make the southern Outer Banks an amazing place to be, and The Nautical Club is right in the middle of the best the Crystal Coast offers.
The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, 4 miles away, reopened in May of 2006 after a dazzling $25 million dollar renovation. Visit divers in the Living Shipwreck exhibit, or meet an alligator face to face in the on-site theater. Boat cruises, marsh expeditions, and other adventures await.
Shores, wetlands, and marshes line the coast along riverbanks and land. Nearby lies one of the area’s most treasured natural reserves, named for the legendary naturalist Rachel Carson. Over 200 bird species and a herd of wild horses have been seen and recorded here. The North Carolina Maritime Museum is a 15-mile jaunt to Beaufort, along with North Carolina’s most visited state park, Fort Macon State Park - with a 19th century Civil War fort, complete with re-enactments during the summer.
Our spectacular coast is also home to one of North Carolina’s seven most renowned landmarks. The Cape Lookout Lighthouse, 34 miles from The Nautical Club, is just over an hour’s beautiful island-hopping drive away.
Did you know that Black beard’s infamous flagship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, sits in only 20 feet of water off the coast from Fort Macon? That’s in Beaufort, NC… only minutes away from The Nautical Club.
